LASER RESURFACING

What is the Pixel?

The Pixel 2940 Erbium Laser is an FDA-approved resurfacing laser that can dramatically improve your skin’s appearance without the downtime and discomfort usually required with traditional resurfacing. A typical patient would receive three to five Pixel treatments. During each one, the laser creates thousands of microscopic spots known as “pixels.” Because only about 20% of the surface area is affected during each treatment, this technology combines the best of both worlds – the great and proven results of a traditional ablative laser with no pain and no downtime.

How does it work?

Think of your skin like a digital photograph which can be repaired pixel by pixel. The laser beam passes through the patented PIXEL micro optics lens and penetrates the skin. It creates an ablative and thermal effect that stimulates the skin to produce collagen while tightening and improving its texture.

What does it treat?

The Harmony Pixel Laser is used to treat:
  • Wrinkles
  • Acne
  • Acne Scarring
  • Age Spots (on the hands & chest)
  • Superficial Skin Lesions
  • Skin Resurfacing
  • Melasma

How many treatments will it takes to see the best results?

Depending on the degree of damage to your skin and desired results, most patients require 3 – 5 treatments spaced 2 – 4 weeks apart.

What does the treatment feel like?

There is virtually minimal, if any, discomfort during the procedure. Rarely, a mild burning sensation may occur.

What can I expect after the treatment?

Most patients experience mild redness and flaking for several days after treatment. Depending on the number of passes performed, you may notice one or more of the following:

  • One pass – a mild sunburn-like effect for 2 – 4 days
  • Two passes – temporary redness that typically resolves over 2 – 4 hours, mild redness, peeling and/or flaking for 2 – 4 days
  • Three passes – temporary redness for 24 hours, redness and/or peeling up to 7 days
The fractional laser resurfacing is the treatment of choice for those who would like to achieve dramatic improvement in the appearance of their skin.

Acne & acne scars

ACNE

One of the most common facial skin problems for adolescents is acne, a troubling skin condition that can affect confidence and self-esteem. As sebaceous glands become over active and produce excess oil, follicles become plugged, resulting in blackheads and white-heads. These plugged follicles can then become inflamed, causing pimples, nodules and cysts. Although acne is not harmful to health and will usually go away after time, moderate to severe acne can leave scars. There are several acne treatment options available that can effectively treat acne and eliminate or reduce the scarring it causes.

AGE SPOTS

Age spots are brownish patches that appear on the skin as a person ages, due to either sun damage or genetics. Sometimes known as “liver spots,” these benign patches resemble large freckles and usually appear on the face, neck, hands, feet or legs. Although they are not harmful, many people wish to have them removed for cosmetic reasons. A doctor can effectively remove or reduce the appearance of age spots on the skin.

How many treatments will I need?

The number of treatments you may require for optimal long-term benefits depends on the area you wish to have treated, the hair density and your hair’s growth cycle. Your hair grows in cycles and many factors influence its growth. Age, ethnicity, weight, hormones, diet, medication and metabolism all play a part in your hair’s location, thickness and resilience. Since some hair follicles may enter their growth cycle after your treatment, three to six treatments may be required to deliver optimal results. Note: Removing hair does not make it grow back thicker, darker or quicker. The opposite is usually the case. AFT treatments may cause hair to come back slower and thinner.

How does the AFT differ from electrolysis and conventional Laser?

Electrolysis is a much slower process. With electrolysis, a needle is actually inserted into each hair follicle, one at a time. Once inserted an electric shock burns the follicle to retard growth.
AFT Hair Removal treatments only use Advanced Fluorescence Technology. This is unique because it is relatively painless, and unlike the laser hair removal process AFT works equally well on most skin pigmentations without removing any of the pigment. AFT Hair Removal can safely and effectively eliminate hair of all colors: blond, red, brown, black and even white. With the AFT, we can gently treat hair in sensitive areas such as the lip or nipples while maintaining a healthy, normal appearance of the surrounding tissue.
Treatments can last from a few minutes to a few hours depending on the size of the area being treated. Harmony AFT provides safer and more effective treatments and delivers to their patient with predictable, reliable and reproducible photoepilation results, including:
  • Effecting stable long-term or permanent hair reduction.
  • Use on all skin types (Fitzpatrick I-VI), including tanned skin
  • The ability to treat nearly any hair color, from blond to black, as well as most terminal hair texture, from coarse to fine.
  • The ability to treat hairs on all parts of the body including anywhere on the face, the bikini line, legs, underarms or a man’s back.
  • Causing minimal patient discomfort or side effects.

MESOTHERAPY

MESOTHERAPY TREATMENT

Mesotherapy treatment for hair loss in men and women

Both men and women suffer from thinning hair and hair loss thus making them seek treatment for hair loss. Male pattern baldness is also a serious concern for a large portion of the population. Each of these conditions fall under the medical term “alopecia.” Some of the common signs and symptoms of alopecia include…
  • Balding
  • Patchy Hair Loss
  • Progressive Thinning of the Hair
Some studies have shown that the naturally-occuring dehydrotestosterone (DHT) hormone, is one of the factors causing hair loss.

Mesotherapy Treatment Description:

Mesotherapy is a medical procedure in which very small amounts of medications, FDA approved for other uses, are injected into the mesoderm (middle layer of skin) using micro gauge needles. The procedure includes multiple injections into localized areas to achieve maximum results with no down time. The procedure takes 20-30 minutes with minimal discomfort.Techniques used in mesotherapy treatment for hair loss are derived from mesotherapy. Using a specialized cocktail, your scalp is essentially given a vitamin boost which can improve the blood circulation in this area. Better circulation allows your hair follicles to be better nourished…all of which can improve hair re-growth.
With mesotherapy, treatment for hair loss will likely to be done by minute injections .This helps to make mesotherapy treatment for hair loss faster as well as potentially less painful.
Over time, the mesotherapy solution will neutralize the DHT hormone, causing hair to grow again.
You may need as many as five sessions of this mesotherapy treatment for hair loss over a period of four to six months before you see significant results. Your mesotherapist will let you know if your particular case requires more or less treatment.

Maintenance

Mesotherapy can potentially eliminate the need for hair transplant surgery. However, remember that mesotherapy treatments work best when toxins are eliminated from the diet and you’re following a healthy exercise program.

Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy: The Safe and Effective Treatment for Hair Loss

Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy: The Safe and Effective Treatment for Hair Loss
Hair loss affects many people today, with the majority of them facing the condition because of their genetic draw. In these instances, it’s caused by the thinning of the hair follicle to the point where no hair continues to grow from a particular area. Although typically associated to men, women are also affected by hair loss. When women face genetic hair loss, the condition could better be described as hair thinning rather than complete baldness. At Radiance, we have been performing PRP therapy as a proactive therapeutic option for male and female patients experiencing hair loss. PRP is an exciting non-surgical therapeutic option for patients who require stimulation of hair growth for hair loss conditions. Platelet rich plasma therapy has come to the attention of many professionals and patients recently, but many people still have questions about what the treatment entails and the benefits of the procedure. Here are the basics of how platelet rich plasma therapy works and the advantages it offers patients.
How the treatment can be used
Platelet rich plasma therapy involves taking some of the patient’s own blood and separating the platelet rich plasma from the rest with a centrifuge and combining it with an activating compound. The patient’s scalp is then numbed and the plasma is strategically injected into the scalp. Platelets are excellent for stimulating growth and healing, which means there are two main ways that the treatment can be used.
Some dermatologists use the platelets to halt and reverse the thinning of the hair follicles, which is causing the hair loss. Others choose to use the therapy in conjunction with hair transplants. Since the plasma helps to stimulate growth and healing, it can be used to help with the recovery following a hair transplant.
The benefits offered by platelet rich plasma therapy
The first benefit noticed by many patients and their doctors is that the plasma is developed from the patient’s own blood. This eliminates risks associated with donor genetic materials such as allergies, hypersensitivity, and other adverse reactions. Many patients are also drawn to the natural qualities of using elements of their own body rather than chemicals or donated cells.
The second benefit, which many patients like to hear, is the effectiveness of the treatment. When used to stimulate the restoration of hair follicles, studies have shown it to be very effective. It is important to note that the procedure works better for certain conditions than for others. In the cases of androgenetic or hereditary alopecia (hair loss), which causes the hair follicles to thin until hair is no longer able to grow, the procedure has been especially effective. Typically, results are seen within 3-6 months following treatment. The best results are also seen in those who started experiencing hair loss rather recently rather than those with advanced conditions, as the treatment works with the hair follicles that are still present.
The results have also been strong in patients who experienced hair loss due to alopecia areata (spot baldness) or similar diseases, when the immune system attacks the hair follicles.
When used in conjunction with a hair transplant, it has also been shown to improve success rates by stimulating the transplanted hair follicles to grow and develop as expected. The plasma also helped with the healing of the tissue damaged in the treatment.
Another important consideration of many patients is cost. Fortunately, the treatment has proven to be very affordable and cost effective, especially when compared to other surgical treatment options.
People experiencing hair loss often search for the best way to halt the process and reverse their symptoms. Many will try a variety of over the counter methods; others will go as far as to get hair transplants. Fortunately, the platelet rich plasma therapy used in conjunction with laser treatment is proving to be an effective, safe, non-surgical alternative for many experiencing hair loss.

What is Hair Transplantation?

Hair transplantation is a procedure in which the hair taken from the back of the scalp (where even bald men don’t lose hair) is transplanted in the balding region. The permanent nature of transplanted hair renders them to grow for rest of the life. Although this procedure is most commonly performed on men, hair transplantation is growing more popular among women, and may even be performed on children who have suffered permanent hair loss due to injury or disease. Recent advances in hair transplantation have improved the natural appearance of the hair transplant,

Here are some of the advantages of Hair Transplant:
  • Natural and permanent solution to hair thinning and baldness.
  • You get your own natural hair growing back for the rest of your life.
  • Hair can be combed, oiled, washed, cut and styled the way you want.
  • Absolutely safe procedure with no side effects.
  • Day-care procedure – you can go home same day after procedure.
  • You can resume work from the next day itself – no prolonged leave from work is required.
  • Natural appearance at every stage of the process.
  • Great results giving you an aesthetic, youthful look.
  • No on-going maintenance is necessary.

A hair transplantation recipient will usually need between 300 and 3000 grafts, but this varies depending upon the size of the balding area. Newer surgical hair transplantation procedures give surgeons the ability to transplant small grafts-even individual hairs. The options provided by the various methods of hair transplantation allow for specific uses:

Minigrafts : (3-4 hairs/graft): commonly used for men whose hair is thinning over a large area, to fill in gaps around plug grafts.

Micrografts : (1-2 hairs/graft): often used along hairlines, this method of hair transplantation is especially useful if the hairline has receded only slightly.

Follicular grafts: (1 hair/graft) look very natural and are used along the front hairline, or for areas that are thinning but not bald. This type of hair transplantation is also suitable for men who have a large bald area and would be satisfied with a light but natural looking thin coverage.

After working with the cosmetic surgeon to determine the type and location of hair transplantation, the patient will schedule the procedure. A local anesthetic is used,  then motorized punches are used to take the grafts. This technique is called stichless technique.  Then the surgeon places them into tiny incisions in the balding area. In the case of single hair grafts, the hole for hair transplantation is simply made with a needle or in some cases a laser. Usually hair can be washed the day after hair transplantation, and because the scalp has a good blood supply, the sites heal very quickly.

Within a few months of hair transplantation, it is often very difficult to distinguish between the graft sites and the natural hair. The successful outcome of hair transplantation is determined by the skill of the surgeon, the amount of hair in the donor site, and the individual’s expectations. During consultation, the specific methods and requirements for your hair transplantation will be fully discussed, including the number of sessions, the potential coverage, and the precise cost. Contact a cosmetic surgeon to learn more about hair transplantation or to schedule a personal consultation at radiance clinics Bhubaneswar.

Causes for Hair Loss

Some degree of hair loss on a daily basis is part of the hair growth process. At any given time, 90 percent of the hair on our scalp is growing. In the growth phase, lasting two to six years, the hair will grow an average of one centimeter per month. After the growth phase, the hair spends two to three months in a resting phase, after which it falls out. While some amount of hair loss is considered normal, some men, women, and children experience excessive and permanent hair loss.

Hair loss can occur a few months after a significant illness, injury, or surgery as a result of stress on the body and mind. This hair loss is temporary. Hormones can also contribute to hair loss. Patients with an over or under active thyroid may develop significant hair loss as a result. This is often relieved by treating the thyroid condition itself. Hormonal imbalances can also lead to hair loss. For example, hormonal fluxuations after pregnancy can cause some mothers to temporarily experience hair loss.

Certain medications can also cause hair loss. Anticoagulants, like warfarin, gout medications, chemotherapy, excessive vitamin A consumption, oral contraceptives, and antidepressants can all cause hair loss. Usually when use of the medication is terminated the hair will begin to grow back. Fungal infections can also lead to temporary hair loss. Certain medical conditions, such as lupus and diabetes, may cause hair loss.

The number one cause of hair loss in males is called male-pattern baldness. This permanent hair loss is usually an inherited trait that results in a receding hairline and eventually a lack of hair at the top of the head. Generally speaking, the earlier men develop this type of hair loss, the more serious and extensive the baldness will be. Women develop a similar type of permanent hair loss that thins the hair all over the scalp. Two-thirds of all men and one-fifth of all women will experience permanent hair loss.

Our doctor will ask a patient with hair loss a number of questions about their lifestyle, diet, and medical history to determine the exact cause of hair loss. Often times, hair loss is treatable. Even when hair loss is caused by permanent male or female pattern baldness, some medications may work to slow the condition’s progression.

The only effective way to restore one’s hairline is to consult a qualified and experienced physician. In addition to these medications. Cosmetic surgeons offer some excellent solutions to hair loss. Non surgical option like mesotherapy and surgical hair transplants (including micrografts and mini-grafts), scalp reduction, and skin lifts and grafts are all to permanent hair loss. The goal of these treatments is to improve one’s appearance as much as possible.
